Picador's Don DeLillo Series Wins D&AD Yellow Pencil

Thursday, 10 May 2012

Noma Bar’s illustrations for Picador’s Don DeLillo series won a Yellow Pencil at the D&AD awards on the 19th April. D&AD celebrates and nurtures outstanding work in design and advertising. This year is the 50th anniversary of the awards.

The Yellow Pencil is recognized the world over as a symbol of the very highest creative achievement and the awards are judged by specialists in each specific field.

Noma Bar’s illustrations were commissioned by It’s Nice That on behalf of Picador.

Find out more about these amazing designs here.

Alex and Will at It's Nice That have worked with us on several Picador projects so I just knew they were the right people to approach with this incredible brief. Working on such iconic books and with such talented people as Alex and Noma Bar was a dream and this result is just perfect. I'm delighted that fiction cover design has been recognised by such a prestigious award. It's testament to Paul Baggaley's vision to bring design excellence to every element of Picador's publishing.
This was an honour and we couldn't have imagined working with anyone more perfect for this than Noma. I think it was his execution that took a nice idea to a different level.
I’m really happy that the simplicity of the work was acknowledged in an image-saturated time. It’s great to see good, simple, pure bold ideas winning.
